Use them well to serve one another.”
-1 Peter 4:10 (NLT)
Pastor
Pastor Pamela Sayre
Pastor Pamela, aka “Pastor P.”, was appointed to Huron UMC on July 1, 2018, and is completing her 22nd year of appointed pastoral ministry. Before coming to Huron, Pastor P. served appointments at Burbank: Trinity UMC & Chippewa Church at the Lake UM, Attica UMC, and New Washington UMC. While discerning her call to ministry, and prior to entering seminary, Pastor P. served five years as Director of Music and Contemporary Worship Coordinator at Tiffin: St. Paul’s UMC. She also taught vocal, instrumental, and general music at Benjamin Logan Middle School (6-8) and then at Lucas Local Schools (K-12). Pastor P. holds a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree (Music Education/Trumpet) from the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, MA, and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree from the Methodist Theological in Ohio, Delaware, OH. Pastor P. currently serves on the boards of the Friends of Huron Public Library and Flat Rock Homes, and on the West Plains District’s Mission & Strategy – District Board of Church Location and Building. In her spare time, she sings tenor with the Firelands Symphony Orchestra Chorale, reads, and likes to doodle. Pastor P. lives with Ezekiel, a wonderful black cat she adopted on a Friday the 13th.
Organist
Thomas Curry
Thomas (Tom) came to Huron UMC at the beginning of 2024, having been a church musician almost all his life. He was born in Highland County, Ohio, and was raised in the Leesburg United Methodist Church. It was there that he played his first service as an organist. In 1970, he moved to Florida where he became the organist at First United Methodist Church, Inverness. Through the years he has played not only for Methodist churches, but also Presbyterian, Lutheran, Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) and Christian Science.
Organist Emeritus
Norma Cook
Norma, who has been the organist at Huron UMC since 1969, retired at the end of 2023 in order to spend more time with family. Thankfully, we continue to be blessed by Norma’s wonderful music whether she is on the bench of the massive Schantz pipe organ or the piano as she continues to be a vital part of our music ministry team. Norma and her husband Ron have been married over 35 years. They have three children and five grandchildren.
Director of Music
Ron Brooker
Ron directs the church’s Praise Band and Choir and is responsible for planning all special music. The Praise Band leads the music at our 8:00 AM Sunday worship celebration (year-round) and the Chancel Choir leads the music at our 10:00 AM worship celebration (September – May). In addition to his “day job” as Executive Director, Firelands Symphony Orchestra, and work here at Huron UMC, Ron is a talented violinist (concert master of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra). He is married to Teresa and has three daughters.
Director of
Discipleship Ministries
Jenessa Faller
Jenessa joined the Huron UMC ministry team in 2021. She oversees and helps organize a number of our ministries including the The S’mores the Merrier event, Trunk or Treat, our Wednesday night L.I.F.T. program (including leading book and Bible studies and recruiting other teachers and leaders), Vacation Bible School, and special events. Jenessa holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University. She is married to Chris, and they have three children.
Administrative Secretary
Beth Anne McFarland
Beth Anne has served as the administrative secretary since 2004. In addition to the day-to-day work of running the church office, she is editor of the church newsletter, oversees the church’s calendar, and keeps track of membership records. Beth Anne previously taught art, is a talented graphic artist, and is co-founder of the Huron UMC Quilt Connection. She is married to Jeff, and they have four children and eight grandchildren.
Housekeeper
Kathy Faller
Kathy has served as our housekeeper for what she says is “too long,” making sure that we are always ready to welcome folks into a neat and clean environment. (This is no easy task given the number of activities that take place in the Huron UMC facilities!) Kathy also organizes meals for our Wednesday night L.I.F.T. program and our funeral luncheons. She is married to Ron, and they have two children and five grandchildren.
Treasurer
Joe Beebe
Joe brings over 35 years of financial management to his role as treasurer for Huron UMC. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from Georgia State University.
